Network Administration and Monitoring Products and Solutions by ASSI

"Network Administration and Monitoring" -- Network Administration and Monitoring of  Computer networks are critical parts of almost every organization. Network and computer systems administration is the responsibility for the day-to-day operation of these networks and clients. It involves the organization, installalations, and support of an organization’s computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. Administrators manage an organization’s servers and desktop and mobile equipment via a combination of automated network fuctions provided by Network Management Software and Network Monitoring Systems which alert as to failures or abnormalities.   Network Management Software automates many of the day to day task normally performed by personnel including software deployment, systems management, system backups, policies implementation and many other normally labor intensive task.

We provide and consult on Network Administration and Monitoring because they are an important part of business and the foundation of Managed and Automated Networks.  Why is a Managed, Monitored and/or Automated Network important?  Because, as you grow, the labor required to manage equipment, load new systems, roll out updates, review operational logs and everything else that goes with controlling an IT Infrastructure become onurous and extremely time consuming if attempting to do all of this by hand.  Further, as more and more technology and devices are introduced into the environment, it becomes increasingly difficult to protect the devices and networks without introducing more restrictions on users, strenghtening your border security and making stringent security requirements and much tighter control(s) of your systems a way of life.  This is a complete corporate culture change for most because smaller organizations typically allow full access to almost all systems by most personnel.  What happens that usually prompts these changes?  Most times it is cost of maintenance and loss of productivity based on employee carelessness resulting in virus and other maladies which take equipment and/or software out of service for extended periods of time.  Other times it is Compliance, Accredidation or Heightened Security requirements that prompt the action.  Occassionally, Management also just realizes that it is time to take greater control and standardize employee access and rights on these systems.

Many SMB and most Meduim to Large and Enterprise Corporations already do this routinely and they do it primarily as a major cost savings initiative.  It is really a simple concept... do you give your employee enough power and rights to destroy their devices by making poor choices or do you restrict what they can do in order to substantially reduce the chance of that happening because you have built in enough safeguards to make it much harder for that to happen?  Both ways, the employee can still do their jobs, but with the second option they cannot install new things without permission, cannot accidentally click on something malicious and infect their devices or other peoples devices, cannot install games or entertainment, cannot stream music or videos that eat all of the corporate bandwidth and much, much more.   So, if an employee can do everything that they need to do their job on their device, but cannot install personnel items, games, entertainment media and have a much higher degree of protection agains virus, Malware and other malicous attacks, and then also have their updates for the operating systems and applications managed in an automated fashion by the system... what is the employee going to do with all that extra time that they are not losing?

The next thing to consider is the proactive monitoring and alerts that these systems provide.  When do you want to find out that your top salesmans hard drive is becomming full?  Do you want to find out when a huge proposal is due and his device stops working right in the middle of them trying to complete the presentation, or do you want your Managed Service Provider notified weeks in advance and a routine maintenance scheduled and the problem(s) solved without incident or loss of productivity at the very worst time?  Do you want your IT department to find out that your server hard drive has failed during the middle of a work day or do you want them noticed by the monitoring solution weeks in advance where they have already ordered and replaced the hard drive before it becomes an issue?  How protected do you want your systems and how prepared is your IT Staff or Managed Service Provider to prevent all of these issues which are killing your productivity?

Having the right IT Staff or Managed Service Provider is not enough.  If they are not using the right tools, policies and processes to monitor, manage, and control your network, then they cannot get their job done effectively.  Putting the right tools in place, minimizes the personnel requirements and allows for the most proactive and efficient model to handle your systems.  We help our clients choose, understand, implement, use and support the appropriate Monitoring and Mangement Solutions for their environment.
